About Me
Welcome to my efolio. My name is Garrett Pender and I am currently a senior at Holy Cross College in Notre Dame, Indiana. I will be finishing my degree in Business in the Fall of 2012. After graduating from Loyola High School in Los Angeles, California I was unsure of what I wanted to do with my life. After 3 years of working in the restaurant industry while taking a few community college courses on the side I decided I wanted to go to college and get a business degree. Holy Cross College was recommended to me by a friend and I transferred in the Fall of 2009.
Being from Los Angeles I am often asked why I chose to attend Holy Cross College instead of somewhere closer to home. At the time I chose to transfer to Holy Cross I was living paycheck to paycheck and with no direction in life. I knew it was time to make a serious change. After my friend recommended Holy Cross College I looked into what they were all about and appreciated the holistic approach to education that they offered.
My theme, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again," sums up my experience at Holy Cross. At first I did not take my education seriously and as a result was dismissed. I reevaluated my life and returned with a stronger focus on how to accomplish my goals.
Through my experiences at Holy Cross I have had the opportunity to do community service with St. Vincent de Paul, go on a trip to Dearborn, Michigan to have an open dialogue with the Muslim community, and work at a professional internship.
